Ruth Ingeborg Wahlgren (nee Salomonsson) died peacefully June 26, 2017. Born in 1926, she was a teacher in Sweden; her favourite posting was Pajala in Sweden’s north. Ruth immigrated to Vancouver from Sweden in 1957 with her husband Vincent and their two sons. In 1960, Ruth and Vincent founded Modern Materials Ltd, an industrial distribution firm based in North Vancouver. She loved gardening, traveling, and volunteering in the library of the Swedish Cultural Society. Known for her kindness and generosity she will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband. Ruth is survived by son Roland (Melanie Marchand), granddaughter Tegan, son Richard (Sandra), and grandsons James and Daniel who all will miss her dearly. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and staff at Evergreen House. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s name to The Alzheimer Society of B.C. A private memorial will be held later.
