Obituary for Avril Sandall

Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her 91st year. During her final years, Avril faced Alzheimer’s with strength and a ready smile. Predeceased by her devoted husband Peter in 2016, she will be dearly missed by her children Neil, Karen (Darren), Keith (Jackie) and Colin. Her sister Barbara and family. Also her pride and joy, grandchildren Torin, Mackenzie, Justine, Drew, Jirina and Rachel. Born in England, Avril sailed to Canada in 1956. Working as a legal stenographer she crossed the country to Vancouver where friends introduced her to Peter at a Sports Car Club party. They married in 1958 and West Vancouver became home. Avril was a doer and always had a knitting, crochet or quilting project on the go. She enjoyed many years of friendship with her bowling team, walking partner Barbara and the St. Monica’s Women’s Guild. Retirement was spent travelling the world, sailing coastal waters and RV camping. Avril will be remembered for her generosity, steadfast friendship, common sense and adventurous spirit. A heartfelt thanks to Elderberry Senior’s Support Service especially Bev and Joanne for their warmth and companionship. A private family Celebration of Life will be held.
